Manage changes

How to introduce changes inside the team minimizing personal friction at team level. If a change has a low rollback time and cost, we don't have to hesitate to try it.

Awareness, Desire, knowledge, Ability, Reinforcement (ADKAR)

  • Awareness: to make a change to have to be aware of the problem and make it visible. We have to set the condition and what pain is causing us. If we, for example, have a lot of bugs, we value testing due to it is a way of improving and professionalizing the team
  • Desire: we have to make the team desire the improval change. We have to make them understand how the change is going to impact both in the company and individually for them, due to they are going to acquire knowledge.
  • Knowledge: we have to mentor the team for taking the action if case they don't know how to.
  • Ability: team needs a secure time / space to test and develop what is being learnt.
  • Reinforcement: We have to make visibility that the change is causing positive actions.
